Spain: Nothing prepared this woman for what this guy asked on their first date. Her video went super viral just after a few hours.

Modern dating has never been more unpredictable.

Apps, social media, and messaging platforms have changed everything, from how we meet to how we flirt, fight, ghost, or fall in love.

A swipe can lead to a relationship, a comment can ruin one, and a simple “seen” status can spark days of anxiety.

Love can start to feel more like performance than connection, measured by likes, replies, and how quickly someone texts back.

And then, some people take it even further.

If you’ve been on a first date recently, you know what I’m talking about. You don’t want to overshare, but you want to be real. You don’t want to look too eager, but not cold either.

Everything’s a delicate balance, especially when meeting someone for the first time in person.

Modern dating doesn’t just affect how we connect, it affects our minds. Constant texting, delayed replies, mixed signals, and algorithm-driven validation can wear people down emotionally.

For those prone to anxiety, overthinking becomes second nature. A simple “typing…” bubble can trigger spirals of self-doubt.

Ghosting can feel like emotional abandonment. And when people are already vulnerable, dating apps and early romantic interactions can trigger our deepest insecurity.

The pressure to perform, to be “chill but interesting,” or “authentic but mysterious”…the pressure not to hurt someone in case you’re not interested.

All this creates a weird, exhausting game where no one really wins.

Many people leave these dates feeling more confused, drained, and self-conscious than before.

And that’s exactly the mental space one young woman found herself in when she met this guy for the first time.

She didn’t go in with huge expectations, just the hope of a pleasant time, some connection, maybe a bit of chemistry. The initial vibe? Not bad. Casual, lighthearted, and good conversation.

At least, until the atmosphere changed completely.

What happened next caught her completely off guard.

She was sitting in front of him when he asked her, out of nowhere, to read and sign a document. He even gave her time to read it “calmly.”

At first, she thought it was a joke, some kind of quirky personality test or ironic icebreaker. But then he added that it was a type of emotional agreement and asked her to take it seriously.

She didn’t know what to think.

Was this performance art? A prank? A serious red flag?

All she could do was stare at the printed paper in her hands, filled with rules, conditions, and emotionally-charged consequences. The more she read, the more surreal it became.

And now, you’re probably wondering the same thing she was in that moment:

What did this “contract” say?

The “Sentimental Responsibility” Contract: Real, Printed…and Bizarre

In a now-viral video shared by Crónica, the woman recounted the entire moment. The document, she explained, was presented by her date, who referred to it as a “contract of sentimental responsibility.”

Key clauses included:

  • A 7-minute response rule: If he sends a message and she’s online, she must reply within 7 minutes. Being asleep or in the shower? That only counts as a “minor violation.”
  • No legal weight, only emotional consequences: The paper clearly stated it had no legal power, but implied consequences like emotional damage or even “existential crises.”
  • Exaggerated consequences: One of the clauses involved losing the right to share a brand of chocolates. Another threatened a permanent block on Instagram if the agreement was broken.

Despite the surreal nature of the document, he appeared calm and serious, while she tried to process the situation without laughing out loud.

In the video, she recalls being genuinely interested in him… until he handed her that piece of paper. That moment changed everything.

She says she was “charmed” by him at first. He seemed smart, polite, even emotionally aware, until things took this unexpected turn.

The video captures her baffled reaction as she flips through the printed pages in disbelief. She notes that he wasn’t joking or doing it as a prank. He seemed to genuinely believe this was a thoughtful and meaningful gesture.

But instead of making her feel safe or special, it raised red flags. Viewers in the comments agreed, calling the contract manipulative, awkward, and borderline controlling.

Others joked that it felt like something straight out of Black Mirror or a parody dating show.

The woman didn’t say whether she signed it or not, but judging by her tone, the answer seems clear.

What’s certain is that this surreal first date became a cautionary tale, one that quickly went viral and sparked heated debate online about the fine line between boundaries, emotional intelligence, and straight-up weirdness.

What do you think? Would you sign a contract like this?
